Beating the Heat

I know weather is generally regarded as an untouchable, sleep-inducing subject, but it has to be noted that a heat wave has come through. We are apparently being given a crash-course in surviving Arizona-like levels of heat.

[Lucky for me, this is also coinciding with construction on our street {and my pregnancy}, so I get to park down the block and walk... just a bitter sidenote]

Our generally pleasant spring has been replaced by record highs, forcing us to retreat into our homes for fear of sunburns (have you seen my boys? can you say "Aryan"!). Last weekend we had enough and set up the baby pool for Nikko and his Dad (a bit too chilly for Mom to really play).

please make no comments on our pigment... we're working on it (hence my killer farmers tan)

I hope summer is finding you all, wherever you are.... and likewise torturing you with it's deadly heat....

Have a good one!

Opa visit

Just this last week my dad was able to visit. His name is Opa, (sounds like"Apa") and he started saying it right away.

(Yes, we are all about creative names... Mostly because giving everyone their own individual name makes it easier for Nicholas to remember.)
He loved the company, and would sit at his feet while he was on his laptop. Unfortunately he had many of his own plans, but we were able to meet him in the city one afternoon, eat out, and hang out a bit on the side.
Thanks for visiting us, Opa!

Its Good to Be Me

It seems like too many days I have the icky feeling of inadequacy or discouragement, but today is a different day. I feel good, really good. Why not revel in it, right?
It is good to be me today.
Maybe its because its Mommy's Day and I was spoiled by my husband who made the BEST steak for dinner
OR
maybe because my baby boy #2 spent a good portion of the day wiggling and kicking my insides
OR
maybe its because Nicholas patted my belly and said "brother"
OR
maybe its because I don't have acid reflux (YUCK) for the first time in weeks
OR
maybe its because I felt useful, welcomed, and needed at church
Who knows?
I'm just happy and I like it :)
