Video time

This first video demonstrates how much he loves the dog...

Can you believe it? He is such a big kid!

I am sad I didn't get a clip sooner. He is becoming quite acquainted with walking already so a video is overdue!

Big Baby Boy!

Can you believe Nikko will be 1 next month? Neither can I! I know people say the time flies, but it really does. This time last year I was wearing a big, round belly, and becoming more anxious each day for my boy to come join us.

As much as I loved him the day he was born, I love him so much now. We are all buddies. He is such a fun, playful guy, always making cute noises and wanting to wrestle. He loves dogs, toys, and all kinds of food

We were able to finally go in for Nikko's 10 month check-up last week, so here are his stats:

Weight- 21lb. 12oz. (50%)

Height- 26 in (65%)

HC- 19 (80%)

Basically, he is now a Nelson :)

Saving the World

My time off of work could not have come at a better time. With all my tests done (they went well btw and I'm satisfied with the scores) Nicholas and I have been sent on a mission. The world is in danger from the locust monsters and earth is about to be destroyed. Luckily for humanity Nicholas and I have joined the ranks of the Gears of War 2 (its our new game). We Gears are highly trained killing machines that will take out any creature that stands between us and survival. Nicholas and I have committed to this fight 100%. The only time we stop fighting are for naps and food. We fight day and night (well we sometimes stop at 730 for bedtime). Some don't feel that this war is necessary but Nicholas and I know that it is crucial to our survival. Paige thinks that chores and going on walks are more important but she clearly doesn't understand the gravity of the situation we are in. I don't want anyone else to worry because we Gears will handle this. We should have this fight over in no more than two weeks (as long as these naps don't get in the way). If anyone wants to send money or rations to help the cause, all will be accepted. Please make any food donations in the form of sugar, cheerios, or anything formula based. Thank you all for your support and we hope to come out victorious.

Back to the real purpose...

Now that the elections are over, we can return to our original purpose for our blog.... photos of Nicholas and his parents!

Halloween was fun for us this year, but I have to admit, its not my favorite holiday. All the ghost, and skeletons and waxy chocolates aren't really my cup of tea. However, we did comply with tradition and dress up. Twice, actually.

Round 1: Ward trunk or treat

Nicholas- the duck
His parents- lame-o and sick-face did not dress up

We stayed at the party for about 30 min total, during which time Nikko had his first taste of chocolate ("... since the womb" Jared says; its true) when he sucked on a Twix wrapper so hard it opened a small hole at the end.

Round 2: Halloween night party and Trick or Treating

Nikko- a Basketball player (Air Jordan's and everything)

His parents- Sarah Palin (hey-- it was an easy costume) and... lame-o again

We had a fun time letting the kids play while we ate and then we hit a whopping 12 houses for sweets
The best part about Halloween, is when its over because then I have free reign to play CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!!
That's right, its that time of year again!!

We are so happy to have been able to campaign for Prop 8 this last while. I have been pleasantly surprised at how kind and receptive people have been to us, and our prayer is that it passes!
Proposition 8 in a nutshell will enact the creation of a consititutional amendment for California that says "marriage is between a man and a woman". Why is this so important now? Well in recent years a similiar initiative had passed which was overturned by the CA Supreme Court. Whatever happened to democracy? Now we have the chance to change permanently to what the people really wanted in the first place.
We personally believe this is important for our children and the educational system. The ad's would have people believe this is about discrimination, but that is absolutely 100% untrue. The Domestic Partnership Act of 2003 grants the rights for the couples most paramount in the areas of legal rights, insurances, and health rights. Prop 8 will not affect this act.
Today we were quite the poster children for the campaign- Me, Jared, and Nicholas going from one house to the next with the door-hangers. If you are a resident in the state, please vote YES on 8, and restore the sanctity of marriage... Those of you who live elsewhere, contact your CA friends!
