Big boys DO cry!.... A lot!

This week Jared and I were given a lovely lesson on patience...
Mom went down with a horrible headache/flu for nearly 3 days, so bad that the visiting teacher had to be called in for reinforcements (Grandma Cordon was out of town). The little guy has been very fussy for the past 3 or 4 days, only to be consoled by holding (in the position of his choice-which varies) and being walked around the house. The combination of those events was full of drama and more than a few tears!
Now that Mom is healed (though walking a fine line), Grandma is home and Dad was home for the weekend we can move toward a happier place this next week. We can't seem to discern where this new especially fussy phase is coming from, but hopefully it's just temporary. I can see how people choose to have just one child.
Ahh parenthood!

2 Months Old

Its hard to believe that our little one is 2 months old already! The milestone was a bit of a mixed bag as it was time for another doctor's appointment.... with shots. The baby seemed to do very well, it was more of a traumatic experience for me! The baby seemed more agitated by being naked and getting weighed than anything else. Speaking of weight, he is now
13 LBS 13OZ!

He was in the 91% for weight, and 73% for height at 23 inches (HC=16.5; 60%). I guess he is built like his parents!
Now that the "little" guy is 2 months he is doing pretty much everything babies his age do: hold his head up while lying on his tummy, beginning to bat at objects in front of him, cooing and smiling, and sleeping well through the night. He even slept three nights in a row from 9pm-7am. What a treat! He has also been sleeping in his "big baby bed" that his Grandma and Grandpa Nelson (a.k.a. Carrie and Elliott) gave him. I'll have to post some pictures of that soon, plus the rest of his little almost-nursery. Its starting to come together quite nicely.

I've been tagged... twice

I've kind of put it off, but now that I've been tagged twice I might as well do it!
10 little known facts about me....

1. I always had my heart set on marrying a blonde-haired guy... at least I've reached some of my childhood goals!

2. I was afraid of food from ages 10-12 because of a horrible stomach flu, and it stunted my growth (the not eating part-not the flu:) )

3. I dye my hair because I don't like my natural color- light mousy brown

4. I'm a fresh fruit and veggies addict; my body craves it when I've gone too long. Jared teases me cause I always say "fresh", but its a crucial element! Frozen, canned, or otherwise never does the job

5. I once snuck into my ex-boyfriend's email and deleted messages from his new girlfriend. Now that's juicy, isn't it?!

6. I always wanted an older sister, not instead of Matt, but in addition to him.

7. I wish I was 2 years older. Even with the women in the church here they sometimes make me feel really young, like I'm too young to be their friend, which leads me to....

8. I lie about my age every once in a while to avoid critical opinions of my being married and having a baby too young for what is deemed socially appropriate for an educated person

9. I'm not sure if I'm superstitious or easily spooked, but I think sometimes I can sense the presence of people who have passed away.

10. I don't really like animals... Sorry

I would tag people, but it looks like most everyone already has been! In that case I'll pick Jon and Dorsey, Josh and Sara, and Lindsey and Jordan in case you guys haven't been.

8 weeks old!

I cannot believe that 8 weeks have passed so quickly! It seems like just yesterday he was born and we received the most wonderful gift in our lives. He has been such a joy to us, and has really completed our family. I feel like I have learned so much from him, things about myself, my parents, the Savior, and our Father in heaven as I've had to take care of him. It is the most incredibly challenging and worthwhile experience I have ever had, and every morning I wake up excited to see him and be with him for another day.

One other great component of this experience is seeing those we love loving our baby. It has been so amazing to see how our families have reacted to the little guy, and watch their attachments forming to him. I love that I have others who understand my love for little Nicholas, and who I can share the joys and frustrations with.

I can't believe the time has just come and gone, and I'm sure before we know it he'll be 6 months old, then a year, and then two. Right now I am just enjoying him being such a sweet little guy, my buddy!
