April showers bring May chaos....

I had a very interesting week to say the least...

In the Cordon family, the month of May, and April to an extent, is very busy. We have our anniversary the end of April, Jared's birthday in May, then Chad's (Jared's older brother), then his parent's anniversary. We spent Jared's birthday watching Iron Man (I'd give it a 6 out of 10), making every meal he wanted and letting him enjoy his day off. He requested fresh homemade salsa, so I spent a bit of the afternoon chopping. I am extremely reactive to cutting onion so I had to wear the motorcycle helmet to avoid the pain, which in turn nearly suffocated me. I am a very dedicated wife.

The next day I worked at my old temp job to see how it felt to be out again in the workplace. I was hoping that time would help me make my decision about whether to go to school again or do part-time work. I was expecting that it would be a horrible day, but it actually wasn't that bad. I'm completely sure I wont do full time while I have babies at home. Its too hard and I miss him too much when its all day. His great-grandma Drena watched him in the morning, then she brought him to me to feed, and I passed him off to his Grandma Cordon for the afternoon. Nicholas just loves him Grandma! She is his favorite female, besides me of course :) and he always gives her big smiles as if to say "I'm so glad you're home!". He also adores his Grandpa Mike. No matter how bad of a mood Nikko is in his grandpa can always coax a smile out of him. I have to say that is the very best part of being here, having Nicholas know and love his Grandparents!!

What to do...

We have had some interesting days... Baby's naps are my new focus and goal for every week, along with a few other manageable projects. Other than that, we try to keep busy. I might have another chance at that master's program here, and making any sort of decision about it seems impossible. I would love the opportunity to have a career in a field I actually enjoy and could practice in for years, but again I am just concerned how the job would fit into our lives, not to mention paying for it.... I don't know.... Have any of you more experienced moms every wished you had gotten a masters? To those of you who have worked part-time or even full-time, did you enjoy or regret it?

Well, in the meantime we're having lots of fun around here now that Nicholas is becoming so interactive. We can make him giggle, and he loves to chatter all day long. I love that kid!!

I had a few people asking me about dates and everything, and now that its all set in stone, I'm ready to give out the dates. I'm arriving monday June 9 at 4pm, and I leave that saturday, the 14th to head back home. I don't really have anything on my agenda as of yet, but I would love to see anyone and everyone who is there!! Please let me know if you'll be around!

Happy Springtime

We are enjoying the passing sunny days and increasingly warm weather. Our new routine now includes walks outside, and mommy working out more consistently. The good weather couldn't have come soon enough. I seem to be one tied to the weather with my moods. I find it much harder to muster up the energy and smiles on days when its gloomy outside, and likewise can't contain the happiness on sunny days.

I don't know how moms do it. My baby is not 4 months yet and I'm already feeling cabin fever. I had an opportunity to start a local masters program in counseling psychology (my dream), but I decided with the baby being so young it wasn't the right time. Ever since then (a month or so ago) I have wondered if I made the right decision. I feel very isolated here sometimes, with few friends and very little going on. That's not to say I'm not busy with the baby and cleaning all day long, but I have few social interactions or activities. A happy day means I got out to Target, Babies R Us, or the mall for an hour or two. But with our newly-established budget I need to back off of those things for a while because the spending is too tempting. Also, its a quick fix, not really eliminating the problem.
Its hard to not look back on those times at BYU when I was having so much fun with friends, and enjoying my classes. I really did enjoy going to class, learning, and especially the readings; I think that's why I wanted to do the masters program so badly. I don't want to live in my past forever, but I guess its how the idea of "glory days" happens. Well, regardless of all this, I'm feeling like I need to do something more, and I'm itching for it. Maybe its a matter of time until I figure it out, or maybe I just need that time to adjust to at-home life.
